Additional Information
Cord sets have distinctive differences: 3-wire versus 4-wire The majority of homes built prior to 1999 were wired with 3–wire, 240–volt plugs for domestic dryers. In manufactured homes, the code required the entire home be grounded which required a 4–wire cord. (Whole-house grounding became a standard in new construction and electrical codes Nationwide began requiring 4–wire installations after 1980). It is important to offer both configurations.
